Julia Fiona Roberts born to Betty Lou Bredemus (mother) and Walter Grady Roberts on October 28, 1967. Roberts is the fourth Roberts generation to reside in Atlanta, beginning with her farmer great-grandfather John Pendleton Roberts. At an early age the father of her mother became obsessed by the theatre. As a college student at Emory University from 1952 to 1954, he participated in numerous shows. He joined the Air Force, and was stationed in Biloxi in Mississippi acted in a production with Betty Lou Bredemus. The couple got married in 1955, and their first son Eric Anthony was born in 1956. Walter as well as his spouse were discharged from the military in, when they enrolled Walter in Tulane University. Walter was a part of the Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio when the family relocated from Atlanta to Georgia's Decatur in 1960. The year 1964 was when Walter and Betty Lou began production on a local children's Saturday morning TV show known as Bum Bum and His Buddies which they funded by on their own. The Actors and Writers Workshop was established in 1964 and lasted for 6 years. They were joined by Lelisa Billingsley (also called Lisa) and Julia (also also known as Julie) at the time.
